Our interventional department performs a vast array of procedures including advanced techniques for treatment of painful compression fractures. Compression fractures are common fractures that occur in the spine with advancing age. These injuries can be very painful and debilitating. Vertebroplasty involves injecting cement into the fractured bone with radiologic guidance, while Kyphoplasty is a similar procedure utilizing a balloon to restore the height of the spinal segment prior to the injection. Some patients may experience immediate relief from pain.
